Registration: Sign up in Debut's office with full payment by May 30
NOTE: You must read the entire play at least once and monologues must be memorized by June 6. There will be some homework of Friday night. (Don't worry, it'll be fun!)

Want to improve your monologue? Want to wow 'em at auditions? Working in front of a mirror is great, but getting techniques, pointers and feedback is even better. Join us for a two-part workshop that will put you on your way to a bettter performance.

     Choosing your monologue
  • Chose something that's the appropriate length. Monologues should be 2-3 minutes long.
  • Choose from a PLAY - not from "original" monologue books. You'll be studying the play to learn how to play the character.
  • Chose something you LIKE, something that fits you and something that showcases what you can do best. You want to enjoy this!
  • Chose something that is similar to the type of play you're auditioning for - children's plays or a younger role in an adult play.
  • Don't chose anything violent or vulger.
  • Don't use dialects and regional vocabulary.
  • Don't chose Shakespeare (or any type of classical play) unless you have experience with that type of material.
  • Don't chose soemthing that's just telling about something that happened. A monologue isn't just a long speech. It needs a reason to exist. The character needs to be working through a problem, trying to get a solution. Something must be at stake.

Still not sure what monologue to select?? Ask in the office for a suggested list of titles.
** Remember to read the entire play at least once before the workshop. **
